9 carat gold contains half as much gold as the gold usually used in jewelry (18k) although it is indistinguishable at first glance from normal gold, it has greater hardness against bumps and dents and an excellent quality/price ratio, costing a jewel of 9k gold less than half of what it would cost to make it in 18k gold.
